The Jaguar D-Type poster from the Design Poster collection features one of the most beautiful British racing cars. The D-Type is a sports racing car produced by Jaguar Cars Ltd. between 1954 and 1957. Although it shares the XK in-line 6-cylinder engine and many mechanical components with the C-Type, its structure, influenced by the aircraft industry, is radically different. Innovative monocoque construction and an aeronautical approach to aerodynamic efficiency brought aviation technology to competition car design.

This winning car covered 4397 km at Le Mans, at an average speed of 183kmh, a record that remained unbroken for four years. The victorious Ecurie Ecosse Ron Flockhart/Ivor Bueb D-type Jag at the 1957 Le Mans 24 Hours was the third and final victory for the fabulous car that reigned supreme on the Sarthe from 1955 to 1957.
